Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons showed fight Friday night rallying from a seven-run deficit to take the lead in the tenth inning. Unfortunately, it was Leigh Valley IronPigs who struck last, claiming a walk-off victory 10-9.

In a roller-coaster game from Coca-Cola Park, the IronPigs jumped on the Bisons' early striking for seven runs in the third and fourth innings.

Rafael Marchan and Brad Vierling each produced RBI singles before Darick Hall broke the game open unloading the IronPigs' first grand slam of the year deep into the right-field bleachers.

Trailing 7-0 the Herd began their charge.

In the fifth inning, Dilson Herrera rocked his ninth home run of the year after a pair of singles to lead off the inning. Cullen Large and Nash Knight reached with a pair of singles.

Straggling behind 8-3 in the seventh, Tyler White launched the Bisons' second grand slam of the season to dead center field to cut the lead down to just a run.

Down just one, 8-7, in the ninth, Herrera came up with the heroics. On a pitch down and away, the righty unleashed his tenth home run of the year into the IronPigs bullpen in the left field to tie the game.

Herrera continued his notable beginning to August hitting .500 with five hits over three games.

Tied in the 10th, White lined his third hit of the game up the right-field line to score Otto Lopez, the placed runner to begin extra innings. The run gifted Buffalo its first lead of the game.

White continued his trend of being a reliable clutch hitter for the Herd. Tied in the ninth Thursday, a White double gave Buffalo the lead. The righty power hitter has had six RBIs over the last two games.

But the pendulum swung back in the IronPigs favor in the bottom of the tenth. Marchan grounded his second single of the contest through the right side of the infield to score a pair and walk it off 10-9.

Outside the blown save in extra innings, the Herd's bullpen held down the fort allowing for the offense to prosper. Jacob Waguespack, Jacob Barnes, Kirby Snead and Dany Jimenez struck out seven allowed one run over the final five innings of regulation.

Despite the loss, Buffalo outscored the IronPigs 9-3 over the final six innings and has scored 18 runs over the last two games.

Buffalo (47-32) will attempt to carry the late-game momentum into game five Saturday in Allentown. The contest is scheduled to start a 6:35 p.m. with southpaw Zach Logue expected to start for the Herd.
