Norfolk Tides News Release

In a disappointing comeback loss, the Norfolk Tides lost the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, 3-2. The Tides were up, 2-0, into the bottom of the ninth but the Jumbo Shrimp mounted a three-run comeback on three hits and a walk to win the game. It's the second day in a row the Tides lost on a walk-off.

The first three innings were scoreless between both teams. But then in the top of the fourth inning, Robert Neustrom belted a home run that one-hopped out of the stadium to make it a, 1-0, game. Neustrom would double in the top of the sixth inning and scored on a Tyler Nevin single to make it, 2-0.

Norfolk starter Mike Baumann was stellar in his second start with the Tides. He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. But with two outs, Monte Harrison broke up the no-no on a single. Baumann's night was over after that inning. He finished his quality start with 6.0 innings pitched and didn't allow a run. He gave up the one hit and two walks while striking out six hitters.

Dean Kremer relieved Baumann and threw two strong innings into the ninth. He was able to get two outs but then gave up a double to Patrick Harris that barely landed fair down the right field line. That put runners on second and third with two outs and Fernando Abad entered to pitch and earn the save. However, Nick Fortes ended up winning the game with his own double the left field line to win the game, 3-2, for Jacksonville.

The two teams will play the fifth game of their series tomorrow night. RHP Ofelky Peralta (0-0, 9.64) will make the start for Norfolk while RHP Edward Cabrera (0-1, 3.38) will throw for Jacksonville. First pitch at 7:05 p.m.
