JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Miami Marlins' left-handed pitcher Daniel Castano will make an injury rehabilitation start for the Jumbo Shrimp as they face off with the Norfolk Tides at 7:05 p.m. on Friday at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Castano was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 8 with a left shoulder impingement, one day after being recalled from Jacksonville to Miami. The lefty was later transferred to the 60-day IL on July 9.

This season, Castano has split time between the Jumbo Shrimp and the Marlins. He began the campaign at Miami's alternate training site, but was recalled by the Marlins prior to the start of the 2021 minor league season. In four starts at the major league level, the lefty is 0-2 with a 5.19 ERA. With Triple-A Jacksonville, Castano has also started four games, going 1-2 with a 4.98 ERA.

A native of Austin, Texas, Castano was originally selected in the 16th round of the 2016 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. On December 13, 2017, Castano was traded to Miami along with Sandy Alcántara, Magneuris Sierra and Zac Gallen in exchange for outfielder Marcell Ozuna.

The 26-year-old made 18 appearances (11 starts) for the Jumbo Shrimp in 2019, going 7-2 with a 3.35 ERA. Castano then made his major league debut for the Marlins on August 8, 2020 against the New York Mets, giving up four earned runs over 4.1 innings. He finished his rookie season with a 1-2 record and 3.03 ERA in seven appearances.

Castano will become the 14th different Marlins to rehab with the Jumbo Shrimp this season, including catcher Jorge Alfaro, first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper, infielders Brian Anderson, Jazz Chisholm, José Devers and Miguel Rojas, outfielders Lewis Brinson and Starling Marté and right-handed pitchers Jorge Guzmán, Elieser Hernández, Jordan Holloway, Nick Neidert and Cody Poteet.
