
Henderson Alvarez Wins EL Debut For Fisher Cats

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - Mike McDade drove in two runs with a single and a double and Henderson Alvarez won his Eastern League debut as the Fisher Cats topped New Britain 6-2 on Friday night at New Britain Stadium.
Alvarez (1-0), a 21-year old right-hander from Venezuela, allowed one run on four hits. He walked one and struck out six in his first game since being promoted yesterday from Adv.A Dunedin.
The Fisher Cats opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. Adeiny Hechavarria (2-for-5) doubled and scored on a double by Mike McDade, for a 1-0 lead.
New Britain tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning. The Rock Cats put together three singles by Chris Parmelee, Yangervis Solarte and Michael Hollimon to tie the score at 1-1.
New Hampshire (26-14) went ahead for good with two runs in the top of the third inning. John Tolisano doubled and scored on a single by Hechavarria. McDade (2-for-4, 2 RBI) singled home Hechavarria for a 3-1 lead.
The Fisher Cats also scored twice in the top of the fourth inning. Travis d'Arnaud walked and scored on a double by Ricardo Nanita, who was thrown out trying to stretch his hit into a triple. Mark Sobolewski followed with a double and scored on a single by Darin Mastroianni to extend the lead to 5-1.
d'Arnaud added an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning, driving in Moises Sierra, who had singled.
New Britain (23-15) scored its final run came with two outs in the ninth inning, when RF Evan Bigley hit a solo homer off Fisher Cats reliever Alan Farina.
Bobby Lanigan (4-3) suffered the loss for New Britain, allowing five runs on eight hits in four innings.
The Fisher Cats continue the series in New Britain on Saturday night at 6:35pm. RHP Chad Beck (4-0, 2.56) will start for New Hampshire against RHP Deolis Guerra (3-4, 9.85). Radio coverage with Bob Lipman begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
