Sea Dogs Longest Homestand of the Season Packs a Promotional Punch

Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, return to Hadlock Field for the longest homestand of the season on Monday, May 23rd. The Sea Dogs will take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) and Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate) in nine games over eight days taking the Sea Dogs up to Memorial Day; May 30th. The stretch will feature Mike Piazza's Dog Tricks, a bobblehead and Webkinz giveaway, as well as the team's celebration of "Mustache May" and much more.

The homestand kicks-off on Monday, May 23rd with a 6:00 PM game against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. On Tuesday, May 24th will be the first of two "Bark in the Park" games held by the Sea Dogs. Mike Piazza's Dog Tricks will be performing between innings during the game. Fans are invited to bring their dogs to the ballpark for a special $9 ticket price. Slugger the Sea-Dog will lead a doggie parade around the warning track prior to game time. Take your dog out to the ballgame and enjoy a game with the entire family. Additionally, Tuesday is a KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night Ticket deal, where fans can buy one ticket and get one free with a KRAFT Singles package wrapper.

Wednesday and Thursday will be great for those folks looking for ballpark collectibles. Wednesday, the Sea Dogs will hand out Webkinz, presented by Northeast Delta Dental when the Sea Dogs take on Fisher Cats at 6:00 PM. Thursday, Portland will hand out its second bobblehead of the year, honoring former Sea Dog, and current Red Sox, Kevin Youkilis, presented by Irving Oil. Game time is 6:00 PM and gates open at 4:30 AM. The first 1,000 fans on both nights will get the Webkinz and the bobblehead.

Friday, May 27th the Sea Dogs welcome the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees to town; the Trenton Thunder with a 7:00 PM start. Saturday, the Sea Dogs will play their first doubleheader of the year against the Thunder. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM and fans with tickets will be treated to both games as the two teams will play two seven inning games. That day will also be a Most Improved Student Day, sponsored by NextGen College Investing Plan, as the Sea Dogs will honor 800 students in a pre-game ceremony.

Sunday will also be a Most Improved Student Day, sponsored by NextGen. The Sea Dogs will also celebrate "Mustache May" on that day, by giving away fake mustaches to the first 500 fans at Hadlock Field. All month long, players, coaches, and front office staff have been growing mustaches and taking pledges to support the Maine Children's Cancer Program. Portland will also have its traditional Kids Run the Bases after the game on Sunday, weather and field conditions permitting.

Monday, May 30th; Memorial Day, the team will host "Breakfast with the Sea Dogs" to benefit STRIVE. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to STRIVE, a program that helps young adults with disabilities. Enjoy breakfast in the Hadlock Field Picnic Grove and meet the 2011 Portland Sea Dogs. After the breakfast, there will be a Fan Catch on the field sponsored by Mercy Hospital. Fans will be allowed to play catch on the field from 10:00 to 11:15 AM. Monday also serves as Military Appreciation Day at the ballpark. Sea Dogs players will wear camouflage hats that will be auctioned off online to benefit National Guard Camp for Kids.
