Two Southpaws On The Move

May 20, 2011 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced two roster moves today, and each involves and left-handed Pitcher.

LHP Ryan Mullins, the 27-year-old southpaw who joined the Rock Cats just one week ago after beginning the 2011 Season rehabbing at Ft. Myers in the Florida State League, has been promoted to Rochester in the International League. The 6'6"/202-pound lefty was selected by Minnesota out of Vanderbilt University in the 3rd Round of the 2005 Draft. Prior to joining New Britain last week, Mullins had made a total of 72 appearances in a Rock Cats uniform over portions of three seasons (2007, 2008 and 2009). His sole Eastern League appearance in 2011 was at home last weekend when, working out of the Rock Cats' bullpen, he picked up a Win against Portland. The slender hurler - a 2008 Eastern League All-Star and, in 2009, the League's Strike Outs leader (133) - departs New Britain today with a 1-0 / 0.00 mark.

LHP Tony Davis, the 23-year-old relief specialist who has been inactive on the Disabled List in Ft. Myers, is now healthy and will join the Rock Cats today from the Miracle in the Florida State League. The 5'11/185-pound University of Florida product was selected by the Twins in the 12th Round of the 2009 Draft. No stranger to the Hardware City, the Newberry, FL native made a total of 27 prior appearances in a New Britain uniform during the 2009 (2) and 2010 (25) seasons. His composite Eastern League mark is 1-2 with a 2.77 ERA.

Both players will be with their new teams in time for this evening's action.
