Hagadone Moved to DL
July 7, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
The Aeros made a roster move today as LHP Nick Hagadone was placed on the disabled list retroactive to July 5th with left shoulder discomfort and IF Carlos Rivero was activated from the disabled list.
Hagadone started Sunday evening in Akron's road trip finale against the Bowie Baysox. He surrendered one run in four innings pitched with three strikeouts, and he is 1-0 with a 5.48 ERA in six total starts with the Aeros since his June 1st promotion from Class A Kinston. He appeared in 10 outings earlier this year for the K-Tribe and the 24-year-old underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in June 2008. Baseball America named the Sumner, WA native as the third-best prospect in the Cleveland Indians system prior to the season as the Tribe acquired him in a trade with the Boston Red Sox last July for Victor Martinez.
Rivero returns from the disabled list after being placed retroactive to June 30th with a left wrist sprain. The shortstop has a .234 batting average so far this season in 67 games played with the Aeros, collecting three home runs and 24 RBI. He was with Akron all of last season as well, batting .242 in 132 games played along with a franchise-record .972 shortstop fielding percentage. The fine folks at Baseball America ranked Rivero as the 10th-best prospect in the organization prior to the 2009 season and the Indians signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Barquisimeto, Venezuela in March 2005.
Rivero will be wearing his usual #13 tonight, batting sixth and playing shortstop for the Aeros as they host the Trenton Thunder at 7:05 p.m. at Canal Park.
