
Curve Hurler Bryan Morris Added to MLB Futures Team

Curve, Pa - Major League Baseball has invited Altoona Curve right-hander Bryan Morris to participate in the XM MLB Futures Game at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Ca. on July 11.
Morris, 23, will participate for Team USA.
The Woodburg, Tenn. native began the season with the Bradenton Marauders (Advanced - A) where he went 3-0 with a 0.60 ERA in eight starts. He was promoted to Altoona on May 16 and in nine starts with the Curve, Morris has gone 4-3 with a 3.66 ERA in nine starts.
During a majority of the first two months of the season, Morris led all of Minor League Baseball in earned run average.
Formerly the first round pick (26th overall) by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2006 June draft out of Motlow State Community College, Morris was dealt by Los Angeles to Pittsburgh on July 31, 2008 as part of a three-team deal that also involved the Boston Red Sox.
Morris is the second Altoona Curve player this year to invited to play in the XM MLB Futures Game this year. Outfielder Gorkys Hernandez was originally named to theTeam World roster. It is the third time in franchise history that the Curve players have had two representatives, with the last being in 2005 when Curve third baseman Jose Bautista and left-hander Paul Maholm were selected to participate in the MLB Futures game at Detroit in 2005.
The 12th annual Futures Game can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD at 6 p.m. ET.
Morris will make his final start before the Futures Game on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Blair County Ballpark when he and his Curve teammates take on the Binghamton Mets (AA - New York Mets). A Pedro Alvarez logo baseball giveaway to the first 2,000 fans presented by Sanitary Maintenance will highlight the evening. Fans can also enjoy great drink specials on Thirsty Thursday, presented by Rocky 104.9. 16 ounce Miller Light drafts will cost just $2 while 22 ounce fountain sodas will be just $1.50. It will also be a Weis Buy Thursday. Fans that present their Weis Preferred Shoppers Club Cards at the ticket windows can receive $2 discounts on 200 and 300 level seats at BCB.
