Aeros Stat of the Night:

. The Trenton Thunder limited the Akron Aeros to a season-low one hit Tuesday and the team had previously recorded exactly two hits just once this year on April 20th against Altoona.

Aerodynamics.

. All Tied Up. The visiting Trenton Thunder evened up this four-game series by limiting the Aeros offense Tuesday night, holding Akron to just one hit in a 3-1 victory at Canal Park. Left fielder John Drennen recorded the lone base hit on a two-out single to right in the bottom of the second and the Aeros then scored first in the fifth. Trenton starting pitcher Wilkin de la Rosa loaded the bases with three walks and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall drove home the run on a fielder's choice. Thunder right fielder Edwar Gonzalez tied the score at 1-1 in the sixth inning with a home run to right and in the seventh, two early singles preceded a walk and the game-winning two-out, two-run single by Jack Rye. Trenton reliever Cory Arbiso (1-1) earned the win with 2.2 shutout innings while Akron starter Scott Barnes (4-8) took the tough loss and closer Ryan Pope recorded his third save of the year.

. Thunder Storm. Barnes had his second quality start in a row Tuesday night, but fell victim to the lack of run support in his team-leading 16th start of the season. The left-hander out of St. John's University allowed three runs on five hits with four strikeouts in 6.2 innings, nearly escaping the seventh inning jam before a walk and a single ended his night. Despite the loss, Barnes remains the Eastern League leader among starting pitchers with 8.88 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. The Cleveland Indians acquired the 22-year-old Barnes in a trade last July with the San Francisco Giants for Ryan Garko.

. Kangaroo Shane. Reliever Shane Lindsay replaced Barnes in the seventh inning Tuesday and struck out Gonzalez to end the rally. The righty then recorded another strikeout in a perfect eighth, as the Melbourne, Australia native now has nine strikeouts against no hits and two walks in 4.2 innings pitched during his last three appearances. Cleveland claimed Lindsay off waivers from the New York Yankees on June 1st and after clearing outright waivers again, he returned to the Akron roster on June 30th.

. What a Relief. Two shutout innings from Lindsay and Chen-Chang Lee Tuesday night continued a very impressive past two months by the Aeros bullpen. Relievers began the year by allowing 69 earned runs in the first 28 contests through May 7th for a 5.26 ERA and since then, a combination of 14 different Akron pitchers have excelled in relief. The bullpen now has a 2.94 ERA over the course of the last 55 games played, permitting only 67 earned runs total with 221 strikeouts in 205 innings pitched.

. Twinkle, Twinkle. Two former Akron Aeros were recognized for their achievements recently as Cleveland starter Fausto Carmona and Columbus Clippers outfielder Jose Constanza will be participating in their respective All-Star Games. The right-handed Carmona had a 4.32 ERA in 32 career starts in Double-A and will represent the American League while Constanza of the Class AAA International league batted .282 with a franchise-record 49 stolen bases in 130 games played last year.
