Guyer Nets OT Winner Against Alaska in Condors Debut

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (8-5-0-0, 16pts) won in thrilling fashion against the Alaska Aces (7-4-2-0, 16pts), securing a 3-2 overtime victory on a goal by the newest Condor, C Gino Guyer. D John de Gray picked up a goal and an assist and G Justin Pogge made 29 saves to give the Condors their third straight win.

The first period saw four goals scored, with each team tallying two. De Gray recorded the game's first goal just 28 seconds into the game. Guyer, playing in his first game with the Condors registered the only assist. At 3:58 of the period, Alaska evened the score at one on a shorthanded goal by Scott Burt. The Condors went up 2-1 on LW Kyle Calder's third goal of the season with 7:56 gone by in the first period. De Gray and F Andrew Ianiero picked up the assists. D Curtis Fraser made it 2-2 with 9:20 remaining in the opening frame. The second period provided less offense. Neither team found the back of the net, with Alaska out-shooting the Condors 11-8 in the middle frame.

In the third period, Bakersfield held a 14-7 shot advantage, but was unable to solve G Scott Reid.

On the Condors' only shot of the overtime at 2:32, Guyer scored with a wrist shot while on a 2-on-1. D Mark Mitera earned his first assist in a Condors uniform on the play.

The Condors out-shot Alaska 39-31 in the game.
