
Wranglers Fall to Grizzlies, 5-3

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (6-7-0, 12 Points) were defeated by the Utah Grizzlies (7-4-0, 14 Points) 5-3 in front of 6,278 fans at the Orleans Arena on Friday night. Forward A.J. Perry led the way for Utah with two goals. Defenseman Dustin Friesen, and forwards James Sixsmith and Dylan Hunter also scored for Utah in the win. Grizzlies goalie Mitch O'Keefe stopped 23 of 26 shots to move to 3-1-0 this season. Defenseman Robbie Bina, and forwards Justin Bernhardt and Adam Miller tallied for the Wranglers. Goalie Michael Ouzas stopped 20 shots in the loss. The Wranglers begin a six-game road trip in Utah to take on the Grizzlies Saturday night 6:05 p.m. at the E-Center.
Utah opened the scoring with a goal defenseman from Dustin Friesen at 5:28 of the opening period. Friesen let off a shot from the point for his first goal on the season to give the Grizzlies the 1-0 lead. The Grizzlies went ahead 2-0 when Sixsmith deflected a shot from defenseman Jake Gannon at 8:05 of the first period. Las Vegas battled back with a goal from center Justin Bernhardt at 15:58 of the first period. Left wing Ned Lukacevic set up Bernhardt's second goal on the season to cut the Utah lead to 2-1. Las Vegas pulled even at 2-2 with a shorthanded goal from center Adam Miller. Left wing Matt Watkins found Miller for his fourth goal on the season to tie the game with just 1:28 left in the first period.
In the second period, Utah took a 3-2 lead with a power-play goal from forward A.J. Perry. Grizzlies right wing Vlady Nikiforov picked up his third assist on the night setting up Perry's third goal on the season at 6:25 of the middle period.
Las Vegas tied the game just 1:19 into the third period, when defenseman Robbie Bina scored on the power play. Just 46 seconds later, Utah answered with a goal from rookie Dylan Hunter. Captain Ryan Kinasewich set up Hunter's seventh goal on the season to give Utah the 4-3 lead. The Grizzlies power-play struck again as Perry notched his second goal of the game at 3:25 of the third period. Kinasewich and defenseman Vic Bartley assisted on Perry's fourth goal on the season to increase the Utah lead to 5-3.
