Grrrowl Finalize 2003-04 Roster

GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL have announced the opening day roster for the 2003-04 season. The roster was submitted to the ECHL prior the 3:00pm deadline on Wednesday.
The final roster includes the top four scorers from last season, and features the return of two former Grrrowl standouts. Matt Demarski led the Grrrowl in scoring last season with 63 points, followed by Tyler Deis with 62, Mike Henderson with 54, and Chris Lynch with 49. Henderson (38 games) and Lynch (31 games) played in Greenville at the end of the 2002-03 season after being received in trades with the Trenton Titans.
Scott Kirton and Ryan Stewart have returned to Greenville after some time away from the Grrrowl. Kirton played in England with the Bracknell Bees last season, and returns after two successful seasons in a Grrrowl uniform during the 1999-2000 and 2000-01 seasons, totaling 137 points in 129 games. Ryan Stewart was a huge part of the 2001-02 Kelly Cup Championship team in Greenville, and began the 2002-03 season in Manchester, England before finishing the season with the Florida Everblades. Ryan was with the Grrrowl from 1998-99 through the 2001-02 seasons, and quickly became a fan favorite during the stay in Greenville.
Two final moves were made on Tuesday to make the roster complete. Mike Gilhooly (G), and Ryan Fultz (F) were released through the ECHL transactions on Tuesday afternoon.
"This will be a unique group of guys on the ice for us this season," stated John Marks, Head Coach and VP of Hockey Operations for the Grrrowl. "The mix of veteran players, rookies and some rising stars will be very exciting to watch, and if they all progress as we think they will, this has the makings of a solid hockey club. I have been impressed with their work ethic and conditioning during training camp, and they have been quick to pick up our system in a short period of time."
The Grrrowl will have a first for the ECHL â the first Korean-born player will be on the opening day roster in Greenville. Han Sung Kim â born in Seoul, Korea (6-1, 205lbs., Forward) is making his professional debut after a very successful collegiate career at Korea University. Kim was selected as the top collegiate player in Korea last season in Seoul.

The Grrrowl have released the 2003-04 schedule, including "Opening Night presented by Verizon Wireless, on October 24th against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:05 PM.
