Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors Professional Hockey Team of the ECHL has announced that veteran right winger Jamie Cooke has re-signed for his sixth campaign in a Condors sweater. With Opening Night just two days away, the roster has been set.

Cooke, who turns 35 in November, has played the last five seasons in Bakersfield and led the team in goals last season with 30. In the organization's history, which includes the Bakersfield Fog, Cooke ranks second in games and goals and ranks third in assists and points.

After three seasons at Colgate University, Cooke was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers and has played in 12 professional seasons. After his first two seasons in the American Hockey League, he has recorded 20 or more goals in 10 consecutive seasons. He has scored 142 goals with the Condors, and sits just 22 goals shy of tying Steve Dowhy's team record. All but 40 of Dowhy's goals were scored with the Fog.

The Condors have also signed rookie C Ivan Prokic, who was an invite from the team's free agent camp in Las Vegas in September, and second-year winger Denis Ladouceur, who split last season between the Condors and Long Beach Ice Dogs.

"Jamie Cooke is a goal scorer and a great asset to us," said Condors Head Coach Paul Kelly. "He's come into camp in great shape with a super attitude and we're happy to have him back.

Cooke's addition completes the roster for Opening Night this Friday. The entire roster is listed below. Defenseman Quinn Fair and Cooke stand as the only "veterans" listed on the roster, as defined by ECHL rules. The assembled team also features four rookies: Prokic, LW Devin Francon, RW Todd Alexander, and D Darren Shakotko. This season's team also features an international flair, with six nations represented on the roster. There are 12 Canadians, three Swedes, and one player each from the United States, England, Denmark and Serbia.

The Condors make their ECHL debut in just two days, on Friday, October 17th, hosting the Fresno Falcons Opening Night. Tickets may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
