Chiefs Announce Opening Day Roster

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today the team's opening night roster for the 2003-2004 ECHL season. The Chiefs opening up the season Friday night at Toledo, before returning home Saturday night when they host the Long Beach IceDogs at 7:05 p.m.

The Chiefs will carry twelve forwards, six defensemen, and two goaltenders, the maximum allowed by the ECHL. The team is full of newcomers with only nine players returning from the 2002-03 team. Among the newcomers is Johnstown native and former Bishop McCort high school star Josh Piro. Goaltenders David Currie and Cory Campbell will also make their Johnstown debut this weekend. There are eight rookie players (less than 25 professional games) on the roster.

GOALTENDERS: David Currie and Cory Campbell
DEFENSEMEN: *Brent Bilodeau, *Jeff Sullivan, *P.L. Courchesne, Dan Growden, *Jay Langager, and *Ian Manzano
FORWARDS: Chad Cavanagh, *Dominic Forget, *Steve Hildenbrand, Mike James, Brent Kelly, *Shawn Mather, Jason Notermann, Richard Paul, Josh Piro, Ryan Priem, and *Dmitri Tarabrin.

The Johnstown Chiefs kick off the 2003-2004 home schedule in just 4 days, on Saturday, October 18th when they host the Long Beach (C.A.) Ice Dogs at 7:00 p.m. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Chiefs magnetic schedule courtesy of C.T.C. Former Johnstown Jet great Galen Head will have his #8 retired prior to the game.
