Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL are pleased to announce that they have signed forward Stefan Rivard to a contract pending the results of a physical that he will take later this week. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are thrilled to have Stefan back with the organization," said Vice President and General Manager Dan Belisle. "He has been an integral component not only to our success on the ice, but for our presence in this community over the last two years.

Rivard, 29, enjoyed another stellar season in 2002-03 finishing sixth on the team in scoring with 20 goals and 30 assists. He also racked up 174 penalty minutes, second amongst all Bullies. Yet Rivard's presence was truly felt in the team's 2003 Kelly Cup run as three of his five goals in the playoffs were game-winners.

"Stefan's leadership qualities are irreplaceable," said Head Coach Mike Haviland. "We're excited that he will be apart of our defense of the Kelly Cup.

The New Liskeard, ON native enters his ninth season of professional hockey, a majority of which has been spent with this organization both in Atlantic City and Birmingham. Rivard has 162 goals, 222 assists, and 1,482 penalty minutes in 476 career games.

"I'm really happy that we reached an agreement," said Rivard. "I'm anxiously looking forward to defending the Kelly Cup. We've got a good team in this locker room, and it should be a teriffic year.

The defending ECHL Kelly Cup Champion Boardwalk Bullies open Season Three against the Texas Wildcatters on Friday, October 17, at Boardwalk Hall.
