IceGators announce 2003-04 roster

Lafayette, LA – Louisiana IceGators head coach and vice president of hockey operations Dave Farrish has announced his 2003-04 roster, with 18 players making the team. Louisiana opens the season Friday in Mississippi at 7:35 p.m., with its home opener Saturday versus the Sea Wolves at 7:05 p.m. The IceGators will retire Chris Valicevic's No. 24 jersey on Opening Night.

The IceGators acquired three new players Wednesday and released three. Louisiana was assigned defenseman Maxime Fortunus by AHL Houston, claimed defenseman Kevin Holdridge off waivers and signed free-agent blueliner Milt Mastad. In addition, the team released Guillaume Berube, Anthony Bilotto and Jan Vrtik. Fortunus is a rookie out of Baie-Comeau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Holdridge was a third-round pick of Carolina in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and Mastad played 15 games for the IceGators last season after they acquired him from Richmond.

The 18 players include two goalies (Frederic Cloutier, Derek Gustafson), six defensemen (Nick Cammarata, Josh Mizerek, Ben Storey, Fortunus, Holdridge and Mastad and 10 forwards (Armands Berzins, Bobby Brown, Kenny Corupe, Ken Goetz, Brian Herbert, Jamie Johnson, Konstantin Kalmikov, Martin Masa, Alex Matieroukhine and Dennis Shiryaev).

Individual tickets for all games, starting at just $10 for adults and $9 for kids (ages 2-12 in any level) are now on sale at the Cajundome Box Office and Ticketmaster outlets. Full season ticket packages, half season plans and Ice Packs are also on sale now and can be purchased by calling (337) 234-4423. Full season packages start at just $288, while children ages 4-12 can have season tickets for only $225 in any level, including rink side, with an adult purchase.
