FRESNO, Calif. – With official opening day rosters due to the ECHL earlier today, the Fresno Falcons re-signed last season's captain and All-WCHL Forward Jason Weaver as well as rookie defenseman Jason Goulet.

Weaver returns for his third season with the club after setting new career highs in points (65) and assists (43) and tying a career high in goals (22) a year ago. Voted the fourth captain in team history by his teammates last season, he led the Falcons in points per game (1.22) and +/- rating (+29) for the second consecutive year. Still recovering from off-season surgery, Weaver will begin the campaign on the 7-day injured reserve list along with forward Erik Jensen.

Fresno also signed Goulet today, who began this season with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League, where he played eight games. The 6'5", 237 lb. defenseman is one of eight first-year players to begin the season with the Falcons.

Also included on the opening day roster are six players from the team that reached Game Seven of the Taylor Cup Finals last spring, 15 Canadians, three Americans and two players from Finland. Center Greg Bullock is the only player on the club classified as a "veteran" of four allowed under ECHL rules. The complete opening day roster submitted to the league is attached.

The Falcons begin their initial season in the ECHL this Friday, Oct. 17, against the Bakersfield Condors, the first of 11 straight games away from home. Their inaugural home game in Save Mart Center at Fresno State is Sunday, Nov. 16, at 5 p.m. also against Bakersfield.

Season tickets to see the Falcons play at Save Mart Center in 2003-04 are still available with mini-packs beginning as low as $48. Call the Falcons at 485-PUCK (7825) or visit www.fresnofalcons.com for more information.
