Grizzlies Take Third Straight

October 25, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Grizzlies won their third straight game and their second straight against the Wolves with a 4-3 victory on Friday night improving their record to 3-3-0-0.

Utah erased two one-goal deficits after falling behind 1-0 and 2-1. Zdenek Blatny scored the game's first goal for Chicago followed in the first period by Steve Ott's second goal of the season for Utah. With the score tied at one goal apiece after one period, the Wolves would again re-claim the lead after a power play goal by Luke Sellars. Utah would answer the bell late in the period off Jon Sim's third goal of the season scored off a beautiful set-up by Alexei Komarov.

With nothing decided and the score tied two all after two periods, the Grizzlies would capture their first lead of the night when Jim Montgomery scored his first goal of the season giving Utah a 3-2 lead.

On a strange play, the Wolves would tie things up when Grizzlies' goaltender Jason Bacashihua failed to clear the puck from his own zone past the Chicago defense allowing J. P. Vigier to throw a shot in from outside the blueline. The game would stay tied until the final minute when Jeff MacMillan would streak in from the blueline and take a pass from Eric Landry to score the game winner.

As has been the case for every game this season, the Grizzlies were outshot trailing the Wolves at the end of the night 37-26. Jason Bacashihua made 34 saves in gaining his second straight victory and improving his record to 2-1-0.

Three Stars: 1. Jeff MacMillan (Grizzlies) GWG 2. Jon Sim (Grizzlies) one goal, one assist 3. Mark Wotton (Grizzlies) one goal

Next Game: The Grizzlies will travel to Cincinnati to face the Mighty Ducks tomorrow night. Face-off is scheduled for 5:35 mst.
