Utah Grizzlies News Release

Boise, Idaho - The Utah Grizzlies picked up a point in a shootout loss to the Idaho Steelheads 4-3 Wednesday night at Qwest Arena as the team opened a three-game road trip and four-straight games against Idaho.

After the first scoreless opening period of the year for either Utah or their opponent, Idaho took a 1-0 lead 3:22 into the second period on a five-on-five goal. The Grizzlies battled back on the power-play and tied the game at one as Evan Kotsopoulos fed Tim Verbeek on a breakaway for his seventh of the year 9:57 later.

The game remained tied until the third when Utah's Evan Stoflet hacked in a lose puck as the Grizzlies battled in front of the net. Utah made it 3-1 just 1:26 later as once again Kotsopoulos fed Verbeek skating in.

Idaho made it 3-2 on a power-play goal at 12:53 of the third then tied the contest with 1:25 left to go in regulation playing five-on-four with an extra-attacker.

The Steelheads scored on all four shootout attempts while James Sixsmith added the Grizzlies only shootout goal in round one.

Mike Mole stopped 39 of 42 shots for Utah through overtime.
