Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® announced today that forward Mike Hamilton has been loaned to the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros.
Hamilton played in the Wranglers' first 18 games of the season, scoring four goals and amassing ten points. The Victoria, BC native recorded a +3 and placed third on the team with 39 penalty minutes. Hamilton spent the bulk of his first season in Gwinnett (ECHL) and had a stint in the American Hockey League with Chicago. In 72 games with the Gladiators, Hamilton scored 23 times and set up 27 others en route to a 50-point season. The 6-foot, 200-pounder also played in eight playoff games for Gwinnett, totaling six assists and eight points. After Gwinnett was knocked out of the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Hamilton joined the Chicago Wolves, who went on to win the AHL's Calder Cup. The Victoria, BC native scored once in six playoff appearances for the Wolves.
Prior to turning pro, Hamilton spent four years at the University of Maine. In 145 collegiate games with the Black Bears, the 25-year old scored 20 goals and assisted on 45 others for 65 points. Hamilton played with Wranglers forward Curtis Fraser for the BCHL's Victoria Salsa in 2000-01. Hamilton is attending training camp with the AHL's Quad City Flames.
Las Vegas starts a five-game road trip tonight in Phoenix at 6:05 PM (PST). The team will also make stops in Fresno and Bakersfield before returning home for the Midnight game on Monday, December 15th at 11:59 PM.
