Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies (28-20-3-5) defeated the Alaska Aces (35-16-2-2) 4-3 Saturday night at Maverik Center before 6,340 fans.
Utah took an early 2-0 lead with two goals in the first 4:39 as Teigan Zahn (7) and David Vallorani (19) scored.
The Aces tied things up in the second at two before Jamie MacQueen took a feed from Teigan Zahn and worked in for a breakaway goal on the power-play. The goal was MacQueen's 19th of the year and made it 3-2 Utah with 4:41 left in the second period.
Alaska again tied the game with a power-play goal 4:41 into the third period before Brent Gwidt (6) slammed in the game-winner going hard to the net with 6:47 left in regulation as Teigan Zahn picked up a turnover in the neutral zone and worked hard up ice.
Aaron Dell stopped 23 of 26 shots to improve to 15-6-0-2. Dell made a stretching save in the final 3 minutes to keep a puck on the goal line from going in.
Zahn led Utah with one goal and two assists, Jamie MacQueen had one goal and one assist.
Utah will spend the next two weekends in Stockton, starting Friday with an 8:30 p.m. face-off from Stockton Arena.
