The Jackals are facing the Stingrays tonight for the third of four meetings this season and the final meeting at First Arena. Elmira is 0-1-1 against South Carolina this season, after a 2-1 shootout loss last night at First Arena and a 2-0 defeat at the North Charleston Coliseum on New Year's Eve. Tonight is the Stingrays' first back-to-back visit to the Twin Tiers since November 23-24, 2012. The Jackals last home win against South Carolina came in the first of that two-game series. Former Jackal Marc Cheverie stopped all 31 shots and backstopped the Jackals to a 1-0 win. Last night's loss moved Elmira's all-time home record against South Carolina to 3-5-2. The Jackals are searching for a win after dropping the first two of a season-long seven-game home stand.
This week the Jackals will be at the busiest they have ever been this season. It is the second, and final, time the Jackals play four games in five days. When they faced a similar stretch from January 20 to January 26 they went 1-3-0. After this weekend wraps up the Jackals will face just one more three-in-three series from March 28 to March 30 when they play a home-and-home with Reading then visit Wheeling.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return to home ice on Friday, March 7 to take on the Evansville IceMen. The Jackals are hosting their annual Scout Night. There is a special ticket discount for scouts and all scouts in attendance get a complimentary Jackals patch. Call 607-734-7825 to get your scout group booked.
