WET WEDNESDAY / GAME SHOW NIGHT

TODAY'S MATCHUP: After one of their wildest wins of the season last night, the Cyclones will close out a busy weekend today with their second-to-last trip to Wheeling in 2013-14. The season series between the long-time foes has been extremely close all season long; the Clones have earned a 4-3-1 record against the Nailers, with the goal differential tied at 19.

SCOUTING THE NAILERS: Clark Donatelli's club dropped a 4-1 decision last night against Reading and now rank 7th in the Eastern Conference race. As of today, they sit just three points behind the Cyclones. Zack Torquato leads the Nailers on offense with 43 tallies (13 goals, 30 assists) in only 34 games. Sahir Gill, who has been a regular contributor as well, follows closely with 39 points (10 goals, 29 assists) in 51 games. Wheeling has been something of a goaltending carousel this season, with seven different players tending the pipes. Currently, Kieran Millan and Eric Hartzell are the Nailers active backstops. Millan, a Boston University standout, has gone 2-1-0 with this season with a stingy 1.67 goals-against average. Hartzell, a Pittsburgh Penguins prospect, has spent the bulk of the season at the AHL level with Wilkes-Barre Scranton. In limited ECHL action, he has collected a 3-2-0-1 record with a 2.81 GAA.

LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: JANUARY 26, 2014: Cody Sylvester's third period goal proved to be the game-winner as the Nailers narrowly squeaked by the Cyclones by a 3-1 final score in front of 2,068 at WesBanco Arena.

Shutting the Door: When the Cyclones take a lead into the third period, they are nearly impossible to beat. In such situations, they've earned a 22-0-1 record this season. Their win totals are fourth most in the ECHL and third in the Eastern Conference.

Haze of Glory: Jonathan Hazen has quickly moved up the Cyclones scoring leaderboard. He ranks second on the team with 37 points in 46 games which is already a career high. He has posted tallies in eight of his last nine 174 games. The Clones are 11-1 in games that he lights the lamp.
