Utah Grizzlies News Release

Boise, Idaho - The Utah Grizzlies battled to earn a 4-3 shootout point in Idaho Wednesday night as they fell in a shootout. Idaho outshot Utah 41-16 in the contest that saw the Grizzlies build a 2-0 lead on their first two power-plays and then tie the contest with 5:36 left in the third on a Tim Crowder goal.

Utah goaltender Mitch O'Keefe (11-5-1-1) stopped a season-high 37 of 40 shots through overtime and has now stopped 63 of the last 67 shots the last two games as Utah is now unbeaten in their last two contests at 1-0-0-1 running their record to 16-15-2-2.

Utah took a 1-0 lead 1:40 into the contest on a power-play goal from Tom May who buried his 14th goal of the season. AJ Perry, playing for the first time since missing four games injured, picked up the assist.

The Grizzlies went up 2-0 26 seconds into the second period as Ryan Kinasewich fired a puck from the blueline off of the glass that ricocheted off of Idaho goaltender Rejean Beauchamin and into the net. Beauchamin was so startled by the errant puck that he fell into the net which proceeded to come off its moorings. The goal was Kinasewich's league leading 25th goal of the year.

Idaho then rattled off three-straight goals including the go-ahead goal with 1:11 gone by in the third period. The final two Steelheads goals came off of bad bounces from initial shots that were blocked by Utah defensemen.

Crowder picked up a lose puck in the slot that he turned around and fired past Beauchamin to tie the game.

Idaho buried two of their first three shots in the shootout, while Utah was denied on all four attempts.

Utah completes their season-long eight-game road trip Friday and Saturday in Stockton. Face-off both nights is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Friday, January 22 to host Ontario at the E-Center at 7:05 p.m.
