Pitton Returns From Edmonton, Sorochan Recalled

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League and Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, announced the Thunder have been reassigned goaltender Bryan Pitton (PITT-in) from Edmonton and goaltender Aaron Sorochan (SOAR-oh-chan) has been recalled form the Thunder to Springfield.

Selected in the fifth round (133rd overall) by Edmonton in the 2006 National Hockey League Entry Draft by Edmonton and under NHL contract to the Oilers, Pitton is 6-1-0 with two overtime wins in his last seven starts and is 7-8-1 overall with a goals-against average of 3.15 and a save percentage of.912 in 17 games for the Thunder.

The 6-foot-2, 176-pound netminder was recalled to the NHL for the third time this season on Jan. 8, won the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week award on Dec. 29 and followed up by finishing runner-up for the award on Jan. 6. He suited up for the Oilers on Jan. 2 at San Jose and backed up goaltender Jeff-Drouin Deslauriers, but did not play.

Pitton, 21, played for Stockton as a rookie in 2008-09 and was 9-19-3 with a goals-against average of 3.39 and a save percentage of.886 in 34 games.

Sorochan, 25, is under contract to Springfield and in 10 AHL games, he has compiled a record of 1-5-0, a.871 save percentage and a 3.99 goals-against-average.

He was originally assigned to the Thunder on Jan. 1 and has appeared in two ECHL games, going 0-1-1 with a.844 save percentage and 4.99 goals-against-average.

The Thunder returns to play next Friday, Jan. 15 to continue the homestand against the Utah Grizzlies, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard and viewed online at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B2 Networks (audio is free of charge).
