Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 6-2 Saturday night before 6,364 fans for the team's seventh-annual "Pink in the Rink" game at Maverik Center.

The Grizzlies raised an all-time high of $20,950 in the post-game jersey auction with all proceeds going to fight breast cancer in Utah. Evan Stoflet's jersey raised $3,250 to lead the team.

Utah again skated shorthanded with nine forwards and four defensemen due to injuries and call-ups.

"I can't get mad at the guys being this short for back-to-back nights," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "They battled and without Alaska's goaltender it's 4-4 going to the third period."

The Aces made it 3-0 in the first 8:33 of the game as Utah couldn't clear the puck out of their own end and took a couple of penalties. The Grizzlies made it 3-1 as Colin Vock's team leading 20th goal of the year got Utah within 2 with 18 seconds left in the first period.

After an almost scoreless second period, Alaska made it 4-1 with 56 seconds left in the period as Utah goaltender Shane Owen came out to play a puck and Alaska threw it into an empty-net.

Utah made it 4-2 off of a face-off as Nick Tuzzolino blasted a shot from the slot 11:58 into the third period. Alaska made it 5-2 16 seconds later and 6-2 with 7 seconds left in the game.

Utah returns home at 1:35 p.m. Monday for Maverik Monday and a President's Day matinee. Fans can get six tickets for $30 with a receipt from Maverik at arena box office. The first 1,000 fans will receive a collectable Grizzlies cup with Pepsi coupons to use at arena and at Maverik.
