Titans' Heartbreaking Loss Fueled by Goal from CIN GK Foster
February 16, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Titans News Release
CINCINNATI, OH - Of all the possible ways to lose a game, this by far would have been the last to cross anyone's mind. And though it was the first goal of the game, it made a world of difference in a 2-1 loss to Cincinnati at US Bank Arena.
The Titans and Cyclones played virtually even the entire game. However with a minute left in the first, North Division leading Cincinnati (30-16-4-266 points) drew a delayed penalty. The Titans pulled goalie Scott Wedgewood for an extra attacker.
After a couple saves by Brian Foster (W, 28 saves, 17-6-4), Trenton kept the 6-on-5 alive and swung the puck to the right circle. An ensuing pass to the blue line found open ice and had enough speed and accuracy to go the length of the ice, into a vacant Titans net.
The improbable goal at 19:30 of the first became the first career goal for Foster, as he was the last to touch it for Cincinnati. Foster becomes the first goaltender to score a goal since Bakersfield's Timo Pielmeier on Dec. 19, 2009, against Utah. For the Game Summary, click HERE

The Cyclones made it 2-0 with eight minutes left in the second when Davide Nicolette's power play shot from the top of the left circle navigated through a screen past Wedgewood (L, 32 saves, 15-17-3-1). The goal was also a professional first for Nicolette.
While several excellent power play shifts didn't end in points, the Titans (20-24-4-347 points) hard work finally paid off when Andy Bohmbach took a rebound from a Brian Haczyk shot and beat Foster midway through the third to cut the deficit in half.
Unfortunately the comeback would end there. Foster and the Cyclone defense kept the Titans at bay, even in the final minute when Wedgewood was pulled a second time for the extra attacker.
Trenton stays in Cincinnati one more day to battle the Cyclones on Saturday night (7:35 pm). As always the game can be heard on AmericaOne.com, or through our flagship station 107.7 FM The Bronc (Trenton) and online at 1077theBronc.com. The Voice of the Titans, "The Bronc" Daryle Dobos, once again has all the action, beginning with the pregame at 7:15 pm.
AFTER THE WHISTLE
After a 3-for-6 effort in Kalamazoo on Thursday, the Titans PP was held scoreless in five chances. Meanwhile their ECHL-leading PK unit allowed a goal in two chances.
Trenton has now lost six straight games (0-5-0-1) in Cincinnati dating back to the 2009-10 season (they didn't play in Cincinnati during the 10-11 season). The last win on the road was a 4-2 victory on November 18. 2009.
Cyclones coach Jarrod Skalde now has an 8-0-1 record against the Titans. The only loss came in OT (5-4) in Trenton back on November 5, 2010 - the last time Trenton beat them at at home (0-4-0-3 since).
