Grizzlies opened camp without star goaltender
October 10, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies opened training camp on Sunday without the presence of goaltender Alfie Michaud. The 2002-2003 "ECHL Goaltender of the Year" returned home to Maine on Friday where his wife, Addie, gave birth to the couple's first child.
Michaud is expected to rejoin the team later this week. In his absence, head coach Jason Christie seemed pleased with day one, "the guys really pushed themselves in the afternoon after working out in the morning; there was a lot of positive energy on the ice."
Christie was also happy to see approximately 100 fans in attendance at the Acord Ice Center for the team's first practice, "it really gives the players a boost when we have that kind of fan support at a practice, it's exciting for the players."
The Grizzlies will be back at the Acord Ice Center, for their second day of training camp, this morning at 9. All practices are open to the public; a complete schedule is attached this release.
Opening night at the E-Center is Friday, October 21 when Utah hosts Phoenix in their first-ever ECHL game. Season ticket packages, starting as low as $360, are on sale now. Call (801) 988-PUCK for more information.
