
Big Defenseman Signs With Ice Pilots

Pensacola, FL - The 2004-2005 Brabham Cup Champion Pensacola Ice Pilots announced that defenseman Eric Braff has signed a contract for the 2005-2006 season.
Braff, who stands 6'4" and weighs 220 pounds, played in 27 games at St. Francis Xavier University last season scoring 3 goals and picking up 25 penalty minutes. He played in a total of 108 games in four seasons at St. Francis Xavier University scoring 4 goals, 8 assists for 12 points picking up 76 penalty minutes and won the Canadian Inner University National Championship during the 2003-2004 season.
Braff played junior hockey at Kingston in the Ontario Hockey League from 1997-2001 playing in 259 games scoring 5 goals, 58 assists for 63 points picking up 161 penalty minutes. He participated in the 2004 Los Angeles Kings rookie camp and is 24 years old from Toronto, Ontario and shoots right.
"Eric is a sold defenseman and will help our team with his size in front of the net," said Ice Pilots President Mario Forgione. "He has great character both off and on the ice."
"Eric knows what it takes to win as he won a national championship at the Canadian University level," said Ice Pilots Head Coach Rick Adduono. "He is a strong, steady defenseman that will be a big addition to our hockey club this season."
The Ice Pilots will play two home preseason games this Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 vs. Gwinnett at 7:05 p.m. Cost of tickets to the Ice Pilots preseason home games are $11 for lower level tickets and $6 for upper level tickets. Fans can purchase individual tickets for the Ice Pilots preseason games in person at the Civic Center box office, at any Ticketmaster location, charge by phone at 434-7444 or through the Ice Pilots website at www.icepilots.com.
Season ticket holders who purchased preseason tickets to the Ice Pilots preseason games this Friday, October 1 4 and Saturday, October 15 vs. Gwinnett at 7:05 p.m. can pick up their preseason tickets at the Ice Pilots office or on the day of the game at the will call box office in front of the Pensacola Civic Center. The Ice Pilots office is located on the second floor in the back of the Pensacola Civic Center.
The Ice Pilots will begin their tenth anniversary regular season at home on Friday, October 21 vs. the Greenville Grrrowl at 7:05 p.m. and will also play the Gwinnett Gladiators on Saturday, October 22 at 7:05 p.m.
Season tickets for the Ice Pilots 2005-06 season are on sale. Ticket plans start as slow as $85.84. Fans can call the Ice Pilots office at 432-PUCK (7825) for season ticket and corporate sponsorship information.
Training camp notes: The Ice Pilots completed their second day of
training camp today with a four on four scrimmage in their second hour of workouts
on the ice. "It was a good scrimmage as the young kids did a nice job. Both
goalies were excellent as Freddie (Frederic Cloutier) only gave up one goal in the scrimmage."
