
Tough guy MacIver agrees to terms with Gulls

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls and defenseman Doug MacIver have agreed to terms for the 2005-06 season, head coach Martin St. Amour announced on Monday. Per club policy, terms of the deal was not disclosed. MacIver led the ECHL last season with 326 penalty minutes.
MacIver, 24, comes to San Diego after spending last season with the Louisiana IceGators. In 63 games with Louisiana, the 6-foot-5-inch, 223-pound native of King City, Ontario recorded six points (1g, 5a) while amassing a league-high 326 penalty minutes.
Entering his fourth professional season, MacIver has played for six ECHL clubs during his career. In addition to Louisiana, MacIver has also spent time with the Jackson Bandits, Charlotte Checkers, Fresno Falcons, Peoria Rivermen and Reading Royals.
During his rookie campaign in 2002-03, MacIver registered four points (1g, 3a) and 103 penalty minutes for Jackson. He notched seven points (2g, 5a) and 193 penalty minutes in 2003-04, splitting time with Charlotte, Fresno, Peoria and Reading.
