
Grizzlies Drop 4-2 Decision To San Antonio

West Valley City, Utah - The Grizzlies opened the 2003-04 schedule with a 4-2 loss to the San Antonio Rampage in front of 7,710.
San Antonio opened the scoring in the first period when Denis Shvidki threw a pass across the slot to a wide-open Jaroslav Bednar. The Rampage tallied twice in the second period with Michel Periard and Eric Beaudoin scoring goals for San Antonio giving their team a 3-0 lead after two periods of play.
The Rampage pushed their lead to four goals early in the third period when Mike Green scored his first of the season. Utah finally got on the board at the 13:08 mark of the final period when Tim Verbeek scored a shorthanded goal making the score 4-1. The Grizzlies would tack on one more goal late in the game when David Bararuk scored his first professional goal.
Jason Bacashihua stopped 26 shots in the losing effort for the Grizzlies, while Travis Scott made 24 save gaining his first win of the season.
The two teams will play again tomorrow night in the SBC Center in San Antonio. Face-off is scheduled for 6:00 (mst).
