Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

Reading, PA - The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies used an even-strength, power play, and shorthanded goal in the opening period to defeat the Reading Royals 4-2 in ECHL Pre-Season action on Friday.

The Royals (0-1-0) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Judd Medak's pass from behind the net deflected off a Bullies defenseman and trickled by goalie Jake Moreland at 0:34 seconds of the first period. But the lead was short-lived as Bullies center Pierre-Luc Sleigher (Montreal, PQ) capitalized on a power play goal at 3:53 to tie the game at 1-1. The Bullies (2-0-0) then took the lead for good when Sam Paolini (Rochester, NY) on a Royals power play took the puck behind the Reading defense and beat goaltender Adam Hauser with a nice stick move at 10:16 for a 2-1 advantage. Matt Hubbauer (Winnipeg, MB) increased the margin at 15:09 when he picked up a rebound in the right-wing circle and slapped it by Hauser for a 3-1 lead. Paolini later tallied his second goal of the night at 1:34 of the third period on the power play to cap off the scoring for the Bullies. Reading's Nick Lent added a late goal at 17:51.

Forward Peter Bournazakis chipped in two assists on the night while Moreland was equally impressive in net recording 41 saves for the win.
