Beloit Sky Carp News Release

Michael Gonzales hit his third home run in as many games against the Burlington Bees as Beloit picked up their fourth straight win. The solo shot was Gonzales' team-leading 13th of the season. More importantly for the Snappers, the victory put them in the driver's seat for a spot in the Midwest League Playoffs.

Snappers starting pitcher Clint Dempster found a groove tonight, going 6.1 innings and striking out seven Bees while allowing just three hits. Melvin Fuentes and Matt Tone kept the Burlington bats at bay from there, preserving the Snappers shutout.

Shortstop James Beresford was the lone Snapper with multiple hits, but every spot in the lineup contributed to the winning cause tonight. All nine Beloit starters reached base, eight of them picked up a hit.

Tonight's "Brody Trophy Player of the Game" goes to Clint Dempster. The lefty moved to 2-2 on the year by working into the seventh inning and allowing just three hits. Dempster fanned seven Burlington hitters on the night and kept momentum on Beloit's side the entire night.

Beloit will look to make it a clean, four-game sweep of the Bees as they look for their fifth straight win tomorrow night. Come on out to Pohlman Field tomorrow night to catch the Snappers before they hit the road for Cedar Rapids and Peoria. There will be fireworks following the game.
