Bandits Drop Third Straight at Home to Clinton

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Quad Cities River Bandits fell behind 6-0 after the LumberKings scored six runs on five hits including three home runs in the third. Following the six run third Clinton built on their lead adding two in the fourth. The Bandits were able to plate two in the sixth but it was all they could muster falling 8-2 in the third of the four-game set.

All eight runs were charged to Bandit starter Justin Smith (6-1). Smith threw just 3.2 innings and struck out five in his first loss of the season. Daniel Bibona, Chris Notti, and newcomer Jose Rada stopped the bleeding by hurling a combined 5.1 scoreless innings. Erasmo Ramirez (9-4) picked up his team leading ninth win after fanning a career high 12 through six innings of work. Jose Jiminez (3) picked up his third save throwing three scoreless for Clinton.

Quad Cities scored two run on five hits. Matt Adams had the Bandits only RBI when he drove home Luis Mateo in the sixth. Colin Walsh also came in to score during the sixth after Rainel Rosario reached with a two-out error by Clinton's shortstop Nick Franklin.

The Bandits will try to salvage the final game of the four-game series on Friday night when Clinton returns for Lujack's Fireworks Friday night. Shelby Miller (5-4) is set to face-off with the LumberKings righty Yoervis Medina (0-0). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m. at Modern Woodmen Park.
