Carlos Ramirez activated from DL; Drew Beuerlein assigned to Orem

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that catcher Carlos Ramirez has been activated from the 7-day disabled list and that catcher Drew Beuerlein has been assigned to the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League. Abe Flores, Director of Player Development for the LA Angels, announced the move on Thursday.

Ramirez went on the DL on July 26 with a rib contusion after a collision at home plate in the Kernels 7-2 win over Bowling Green on July 25. In 58 games for the Kernels, he's batting .232 with 8 HR and 24 RBI.

Beuerlein played in five games for the Kernels, hitting .368 with 2 HR and 4 RBI. He was selected by the Angels in the 32nd round of the 2010 Free Agent Draft out of UNLV.

With today's transaction, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with two players currently on the disabled list.

The Kernels are in the midst of a four game road trip at Kane County and return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 7th. Ticket office hours are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
