SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The South Bend Silver Hawks will host Fallen Heroes Night presented by Midland Engineering on Saturday, Aug. 7 at Coveleski Stadium to honor those who service the community.

Police, firefighters, and EMS workers will receive a free reserved seat ticket if they show their badge or ID at the box office, while family members can purchase a $3 reserved seat.

The Silver Hawks take on the Lake County Captains at 5:30 p.m., with the gates opening at 4:30 p.m.

The Paul Deguch Community Service Award will be given to the Silver Hawks player who has done the most in the community this summer.

Up to this point, Silver Hawks players and coaches have taken part in 650 hours of community service and will continue to do so through September.

Last year's recipient of the award was reliever Justin Mace.

Additionally, there will be a police car and fire truck parade on the field prior to the ceremony, approximately 20 minutes before the game. A silent jersey auction will take place during the game, with proceeds going to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.

Saturday's game is also a Souvenir Saturday, with the first 1,000 fans receiving a reusable shopping bag sponsored by Martin's Super Markets and Waste Management.

Martin's own Kyle Perry, the National Champion Bagger, will be on hand to throw out a ceremonial first pitch and demonstrate his bagging skills in a special in-between inning competition.

The Silver Hawks are currently in Kentucky taking on the Bowling Green Hot Rods in a four-game series.

The team returns home Saturday, Aug. 7 to begin a seven-game home stand against the Lake County Captains and Great Lakes Loons.
