Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Another Blanking! Gladiators goaltender Adam Berkhoel recorded his second shutout of the season on Tuesday with a 5-0 shutout win over the Fresno Falcons. Berkhoel recorded his first shutout of the season on February 15th in a 3-0 shutout of the Florida Everblades and becomes the first goalie this season with more than one shutout for the Gladiators this year.

Joining the 20 goal club: Forward Kris Goodjohn became the 4th Gladiator to reach the 20 goal plateau this season with a goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors. His 20 goals set a new career high for goals in a season breaking last year's mark of 19 goals. The Gladiators finished last season with six 20-goal scorers and currently have four 20-goal scorers this year.

From Chicago: The Chicago Wolves assigned forward Kevin Doell to the Gladiators on Tuesday. Doell stepped right into the line up where he posted two assists for the Gladiators in a 5-0 win over the Fresno Falcons. He scored the only goal for the Gladiators in Wednesday's 2-1 loss at Long Beach. Doell then added an assist in Friday's 3-2 overtime win against the Bakersfield Condors and chipped in a helper in Sunday's 3-2 loss at San Diego. Doell finished the week with 1 goal and 4 assists for 5 points in 5 games with the Gladiators.

A first! Gladiators defenseman Libor Ustrnul recorded his first goal of the season in the Gladiators 3-1 win over the Bakersfield Condors on Saturday night. His goal proved to be the game winner for the Gladiators in the win. Ustrnul has now posted 1 goal and 5 assists for 6 points in 15 games this season with the Gladiators after being assigned to Gwinnett from the Chicago Wolves.

One for 30: Rookie forward Jeff Campbell recorded his 28th and 29th goals of the season in the Gladiators 3-2 overtime win against the Bakersfield Condors on Friday night. Campbell needs just one goal to reach 30 tallies on the year and currently ranks 4th in goals scored among rookies in the ECHL. His 61 points on the year ranks 2nd among rookies in the ECHL in that category.

To the playoffs: The Gladiators clinched a playoff berth in the American Conference with a win on Saturday night over the Bakersfield Condors. Gwinnett currently ranks 7th in the American Conference but just 2 points separates 7th place and 4th place.
