BOISE, Idaho - After a three-game home series against the Fresno Falcons (2-0-1), the Idaho Steelheads have improved their cushion to three-points for the final playoff spot in the ECHL's National Conference, West Division. Idaho (83 points) now trails the Long Beach Ice Dogs and Bakersfield Condors, who are tied for second- and third-place with 86-points, by only three-points.

The Steelheads have six games remaining in the regular season, including a three-game homestand against the West Division rival San Diego Gulls this week (Wed., Fri., and Sat.), before wrapping up with a trip to San Diego for one game and two in Bakersfield.

PRACTICE SCHDULE:

The Steelheads will practice at the Bank of America Centre Monday through Saturday of this week, 10:00 am - 11:00 am. Practice is free and open to the media and public.

PLAYER NOTES: Rookie goaltender Frank Doyle leads the league in wins with 30 (record 30-12-4), and has a goals-against average of 2.15.... Bobby Russell leads the team in scoring with 60 points (24 goals, 36 assist).... Scott Burt scored his third shorthanded goal last week - the team has scored only 6 all season.... Two players with NHL experience had added some offensive power since joining the team recently - Andrei Vasilyev has tallied 8 points (4 goals, 4 assists) in 7 games-played.... Mike Stutzel has scored 8 points (4 goals, 4 assists) in 8 games-played since being reassigned by the Utah Grizzlies (AHL).

COMMUNITY: 1st Annual Steelhead Fish Fry benefit for Big Brothers Big Sisters and The Make-A-Wish of Idaho. A silent auction with an assortment of great items to bid on (autographed sports memorabilia, travel packages, spa and entertainment packages, and more) will be available at the games on March 30th, April 1st and April 2nd with all proceeds going to charity. In addition, the game on April 2nd will feature live auction items and fun activities for children on the concourse. The auction will wrap up and prizes will be awarded Saturday night (April 2nd) after the game in the Sports Zone, where fans will also have the opportunity to meet all the players from the Idaho Steelheads hockey team.

Promotion: Guiness Book of World Records night. The first 3,500 fans through the doors will be given Groucho Marx-style glasses to wear to smash the World Record of most people simultaneously wearing the glasses, noses and moustaches at one location. The current record is 937 held by students and staff of East Lansing High School, Michigan on May 23rd, 2003.

Promotion: Steelheads Fish Fry Media Challenge. Period intermissions will feature local media celebrities as they throw fish and stick handle in the 1st Annual News Sharks Shootout. Bragging rights to the Biggest Fish Tale in the Valley will be awarded to newscasters in these categories: Fish Throwing Face Off and the Shark Shooter Shootout. Local News Sharks Teams will compete on skates to stick the most fish in the net past Steelheads assistant coach and former goalie Blair Allison.

Promotion: Fire Prevention Night. And, the Steelheads Fish Fry auction will wrap up and prizes will be awarded Saturday night (April 2nd) after the game in the Sports Zone, where fans will also have the opportunity to meet all of the players from the Idaho Steelheads hockey team.
