
Royals remain in second after posting 2-2-0 week

Reading Royals News Release
The Reading Royals remained in second place in the tightly-packed North Division after posting a 2-2-0 record this week. Both Royals victories came on home ice. Reading out gunned Toledo on Tuesday, 6-4. Dayton nipped Reading 2-1 on Thursday night in the Sovereign Center. The Royals rebounded with a 5-1 victory over the Chiefs on Friday night at home. Reading went on the road for the only time during the week on Saturday and were bombed by Trenton, 6-2. The loss was the worst defeat suffered by the Royals this season.
Saturday's game in Trenton finished a stretch of eight games in 12 days. The reigning Northern Division champs will enjoy a five-day rest period before starting a stretch of seven games in nine days to close the regular season. Reading begins the week with their last visit to Dayton on Friday night. Atlantic City visits the Sovereign Center on Saturday night, which could be a battle for first place in the North. It's American Cancer Society night in the Sovereign Center with the first 1,000 fans to receive a flashlight for the right to life. A matinee game will finish the week for the Royals as they host Peoria on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. The final set of Rieck's Printing Royals hockey trading cards will be awarded to the first 2,500 patrons.

Tuesday, March 22 vs. Toledo Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET
GAME NOTES: The line of MacLean, Masse and Mischler powered Reading to a 6-4 victory over the Toledo Storm. The Royals Captain Cail MacLean chipped in with a goal and two assists, Graig Mischler added three helpers, while David Masse accounted for two goals including the game winner. Cody Rudkowsky got the win in net for Reading stopping 24 shots.
Thursday, March 24 vs. Dayton Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET
GAME NOTES: For the second time in the month of March, the Dayton Bombers nipped the Reading Royals in a one-goal decision. The 2-1 Bomber win evened their record to 2-2-0 versus the Royals in the Sovereign Center during March. Jeff Miles accounted for the only Royal goal.
Friday, March 25 vs. Johnstown Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET
GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals beat up on the Johnstown Chiefs in their final meeting of the season, 5-1. A three-goal second period blew the game open for Reading, who were paced by their captain Cail MacLean (1g, 2a) and Jon Francisco (2g). Barry Brust stopped 34 shots to earn his 23rd win of the season.
Saturday, March 26 @ Trenton Sovereign Bank Arena 7:00PM ET
GAME NOTES: The Trenton Titans hammered the Reading Royals 6-2 on Saturday in Trenton, New Jersey. Captain Rick Kowalsky led the charge with a goal and two helpers, while Scott Bertoli tallied two goals including the game winner shorthanded. Andrew Allen secured his seventh win in nine tries versus Reading this season.

GAME NOTES: Reading and Dayton close out their nine-game regular season series in the Nutter Center. The Royals are unbeaten in Dayton posting a 3-0-0 record. This is the Royals first trip to Dayton in nearly two months (February 4). Three different Royals netminders have recorded shutouts against the Bombers this season. Reading holds a 6-2-0 advantage in the regular season series.
Saturday, April 2 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM ET
GAME NOTES: Atlantic City and Reading meet for final time in Reading's Sovereign Center in the regular campaign. Forward Larry Courville leads the Royals in scoring in this series (2-4=6) and is plus-3 versus the Bullies. The Royals have a 2-3-3 record versus AC this season and are 11-18-6 all time.
Sunday, April 3 vs. Peoria Sovereign Center 1:05PM ET
GAME NOTES: Reading and Peoria meet twice in just three days in the Sovereign Center on Sunday and the following Tuesday. The games mark the final meetings between the two clubs ever. The Royals are a perfect 2-0-0 against the Rivermen in the Jungle and 4-2-0 overall. Barry Brust has accounted for all four Royals wins posting a 1.15 goals against average and .962 save percentage.

Barry Brust unbeaten streak ended at 12 games this week. Brust stopped 34 shots against Johnstown in Reading's 5-1 win on Friday in the Sovereign Center. The Titans handed Brust and the Royals their worst defeat of the season, 6-2 on Saturday in Trenton. Despite the loss, Brust stopped 35 shots for Reading.

David Masse was the only Royal to post a point or more in all four games this week. Masse also finished with a plus-3 rating for the week as well. The Montreal, Quebec native fired in two goals in the Royals win over Toledo Tuesday. He had an assist in Reading's loss to Dayton on Thursday followed by another two-point (1g, 1a) performance in a win on Friday. The Royals leading playoff scorer chipped in two assists in Reading's 6-2 loss to Trenton on Saturday. Masse recorded both game-winning goals for the Royals this week.
