Fresno Falcons News Release

LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 1-2-1 OVERALL RECORD: 36-22-8, 80 pts.

March 22 vs. Gwinnett, 5-0 Loss – Fresno suffered its 7th shutout of the season in its final game of the year against a non-divisional opponent.

March 24 @ Idaho, 5-2 Loss – As Fresno opened a three-game series in Idaho trailing the Steelheads by one point in the race for the fourth and final playoff spot out of the West Division, special teams proved the club's downfall. Idaho struck three times with the extra man and added a back-breaking short-handed goal early in the third to take game one of the series. David Brisson and Shaun Sutter scored in the losing effort.

March 25 @ Idaho, 6-5 Overtime Loss – After again spotting the Steelheads a 5-2 third-period lead due largely to giving up three power play goals, the Falcons pulled-off a stunning comeback over the final 12 ½ minutes to force overtime. Derek Krestanovich and John Wroblewski scored to set the stage for Lanny Gare's game-tying goal with 2:25 remaining in regulation. In the extra session, though, Idaho's Darrell Hay scored at 1:10 to give the Steelheads the extra point for the overtime win.

March 26 @ Idaho, 2-1 Overtime Win – In the series finale, Dan Tessier scored a power play goal in the second period before Idaho tied the game at one early in the third. In overtime, Lanny Gare delivered the team's fourth overtime win this season at 2:51 to salvage three points out of the three-game set.

• Lanny Gare scored his first two goals last week since returning from a 51-game stint on injured reserve. All four of his goals in a Falcons uniform this year have been against the Steelheads.

• Dan Tessier registered his first goal on Saturday following a 10-game absence due to injury. The Falcons captain's 54 points (22g-32a) trail Shaun Sutter's 55 points (25g-30a) in the race for the team scoring title.

• Fifth-place Fresno begins the week three points out of the final playoff spot in the West Division. They trail the fourth-place Steelheads by three points in the division and the tied-for-second-place Long Beach Ice Dogs and Bakersfield Condors by six points. With six games remaining in the regular season, the Falcons still control their own playoff destiny.
