November 26, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators used 26 saves from Goaltender T.J. Aceti and two goals from Mike Vigilante to steamroll past the Louisiana IceGators 7-0 on Friday night at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Gladiators took control of the game 3 minutes into the first period with two goals 18 seconds apart. Mike Vigilante's back-hand shot 15 feet out beat Louisiana goaltender Kyle Kettles over the right shoulder to give the Gladiators the 1-0 lead. Sam Ftorek picked up a helper as he rolled the puck back to Vigilante to set up the tally at 3:15 of the first period. Jeff Campbell also had an assist on the goal.

Chris Durno stripped a Louisiana defenseman in the slot and walked in untouched on Kettles ripping a snapshot past the netminder just 18 seconds after Vigilante's tally giving the Gladiators a 2-0 lead. Durno got the puck back from Kris Goodjohn on a give-and-go after the take away in the Louisiana zone.

Kris Goodjohn took his time setting up Brett Engelhardt for the Gladiators third goal of the night. Goodjohn walked over the blue line and then threaded a pass through two IceGators defensemen to a wide open and waiting Engelhardt who ripped a one timer past Kettles for the 3-0 lead at 7:55 of the first period.

Gwinnett extended its lead to 7-0, all the Gladiators would need, by the close of the middle period. Lane Manson pushed the Gladiators lead to 4-0 with his first professional goal at 2:21 of the second period. Vigilante and Jeff Campbell added the assists on the tally.

Adam Smyth's first professional goal, a snap shot from the right wing face off circle about 20 feet out, gave the Gladiators a 5-0 lead 4:50 into second period. Peter Flache and Kris Goodjohn worked the puck off the end boards to feed a waiting Smyth in front of the net to pick up the assists. Following Smyth's goal, Louisiana pulled Kettles in favor of Nathan Masters but the barrage continued for Gwinnett.

Mike Vigilante's second of the night at 8:08 of the middle period pushed the Gladiators lead to 6-0. Vigilante jammed the puck past Masters on a second effort right on top of the crease. Sam Ftorek and Lane Manson added the assists on the goal.

Ftorek moved end-to-end to set up Campbell's first tally of the night. Campbell found a loose puck in the crease and jammed it home after Ftorek got past the Louisiana defense to set up the tally at 10:45 of the second period.

The teams skated out the uneventful final period without a goal on either side of the ice. Gwinnett went 0-for-2 on the power play but improved to 7-3-4 on the season.
