Falcons Home-Winning Streak Continues with 4-2 Win
November 26, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. -The Fresno Falcons attained their fourth straight win at home tonight against the Victoria Salmon Kings with a final score of 4-2 in front of a Thanksgiving evening crowd of 3,629. Leading the scoreboard through out the whole game, the Falcons battled against numerous power plays and a "too close for comfort" finish to end up with a 2-1 lead in the series against the Salmon Kings. This win tonight put the Falcons above the San Diego Gulls in the West Division standings.
Although Kris Porter may be a newcomer to this season's Falcons team as #55, his history with the Falcons was well recognized by the fans at Save Mart Center. He came out with a bang, scoring within the first 4 minutes of the game, with assists by David Brisson and Dan Tessier.
The Falcons jumped to a 3-0 lead early in the second period with goals by Derek Krestanovich and Jason Weaver, despite several great saves by Victoria goalkeeper Jason Stone. Half way through the middle period, it seemed as though the Falcons would be coasting towards their 4th straight win at home, but the Salmon Kings made sure that this was not the case. Penalty trouble quickly forced the Falcons to spend the whole second half of the period down a man. This lead Victoria to their first goal of the night by Blue Bennefield at 17:19 playing 5-on-3.
At the beginning of the third period, Victoria executed on a power play once again with a goal by Mike Barrie, bringing the score to a close 3-2. Fresno, on the other hand, had a difficult time with power play action, performing 0 for 4 for the night. With less than a minute remaining, David Brisson, attaining his third goal of the season, scored on an empty net, securing the lead 4-2. This final goal was later proved to be much needed, as Victoria nearly scored by tipping the puck off the goal post with less than 2 seconds remaining.
This win over the Salmon Kings gives the Falcons a record of 5-7-1 on the year. They are right back on the ice tomorrow night, Friday, Nov. 26, looking for their fifth straight home win. They battle the Victoria Salmon Kings once again at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center.
Tickets are on sale for the game against the Salmon Kings for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
