
Rookie Jake Riddle Claimed Off Waivers from Wheeling

Peoria, Ill. (November 26, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that rookie forward Jake Riddle, younger brother of Rivermen center Troy Riddle, was claimed off waivers from the Wheeling Nailers on Thursday.
Riddle â a 6-foot-1, 212-pound native of Minneapolis, Minn. â registered 18 penalty minutes (PIM) in 11 games with the Nailers to open his professional career. The 21-year-old enjoyed a four-year Major Junior "A" career in the Western Hockey League (WHL), splitting his last season (2003-2004) between the Lethbridge Hurricanes (53gp â 18g, 18a=36pts, 139 PIM), the Saskatoon Blades (5gp â 1a, 7 PIM) and the Tri-City Americans (7gp â 3a, 10 PIM). Selected by the Minnesota Wild in the eighth round (239th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, he registered single-season Major Junior "A" career bests in games played (72), goals (32), assists (30), points (62) and PIM (190) in 2002-2003, playing 14 games for the Seattle Thunderbirds and 58 for Tri-City. He competed for Seattle for the first two and half years of his career, collecting 68 points (31g, 37a) and 237 PIM in 151 games.
