Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
It's hard to believe but Sunday December 5, 2004 is just days away! With the team in California for the last three games of a gruelling 14 game opening road swing, fans back in Victoria are counting down the days as they get ready for what promises to be a great season of professional hockey in Victoria!
"We're tremendously excited to get the season, at least for the Victoria staff, underway," says Ken Noakes, Director of Sales and Marketing for the Victoria Salmon Kings. "The players have obviously had a tough time already, being on the road for so long, but for us it's almost like the season is just kicking off," he laughed.
In addition to the return of professional hockey to the island for the first time in almost 40 years, there is plenty of other action planned for the day. "The day is going to start off at 11:00 AM with what we're billing as a "family tailgate part" in the parking lot at Bear Mountain Arena," said Noakes. " Ticket holders are going to be treated to hot dogs, courtesy of Save-On-Foods, pizza courtesy of Villages Pizza and pop from our friends at Coke. We'll also have some giveaways from the Q FM and the Times Colonist. We may even get Maxie out to say a few words to the fans," added Noakes.
The doors of Bear Mountain Arena open at 12:00 noon and every fan entering the arena will receive a COUPON that can be redeemed immediately after the game for a special treat. "The Times Colonist and CH Television have graciously provided collector pucks for every ticket holder at our first ever home game," said Noakes. He added, "this is going to be a great little keepsake. Less than 3,000 of these pucks will be out there â and you can't even buy them!"
Tickets for the home opener, and every other game, are still available. "There are a number of people out there surprised to learn that tickets are still available for the home opener," said Noakes. "There is a common belief that we are totally sold out but that's not the case. And if you buy soon you can still get reserved seats," he said.
Tickets are available at Select Your Tickets' temporary box office at 702 Fort St., on the 2nd floor, at www.selectyourtickets.com, or by calling 220-7777.
