Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators used Cam Brown's second game winning goal of the season to beat the Charlotte Checkers 2-1 on Friday night at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena to post their 40th win of the season and improve to 40-11-7 on the season. Milan Gajic broke a scoreless tie midway through the first period posting his 21st goal of the season on the power play. Jeff Dwyer set up Gajic in the high slot faking a slap shot from the left wing point and then rolling the puck to a wide-open Gajic for the goal at 10:57 of the period. Scott Mifsud also collected an assist on the goal as he fed Dwyer at the point. Charlotte got on the board 3:17 into the second period when Mike Bayrack ripped a one-timed backhand past Gladiators netminder Sean Fields. Parked in the face off circle, Bayrack took a pass out of the corner on his backhand from Brandon Cullen for the goal. Ryan Fultz also collected an assist on the goal for the Checkers. Gwinnett lost the services of Guilluame Desbiens for the third period as the Gladiators rookie got into a skirmish at the end of the second period with Charlotte's Cullen. Neither returned to the contest, as they were both assessed a game misconduct for the altercation. Brown posted the game-winning goal for Gwinnett ripping a slap shot over the shoulder of Cunning with 5:50 left in the third period. Brown came flying down the left wing where Schell rolled the puck to the Gladiators captain to set up the tally. Gajic also collected an assist on the goal. Sean Fields posted his 25 win of the season for Gwinnett in the win while Gwinnett continued to capitalize on the power play posting their first goal of the game on the man advantage finishing 1-for-7 on the man advantage.
