Augusta Lynx News Release

The Greenville Grrrowl scored once in each period as they dispatched the Augusta Lynx 3-1 at the Bi-Lo Center on Friday night in front of 4,305 fans.

Greenville needed just five seconds on the first period's only power play chance to take a 1-0 lead. Cody Blanshan took a Brad Bonello feed and fired a blast over the left pad of Mike Wall at 4:23 for the lead.

Wall would bail the Lynx out of trouble later in the period by making a stellar right pad save on a 2-on-0 break, stuffing Bonello by coming across to his right to keep it a one goal game.

Finally Augusta evened the score as Dan Sullivan cashed in on a rebound from a Sam Ftorek shot that caromed back in front of the Grrrowl at 16:03. Ryan Lang's slot feed found Ftorek up top, who threw the puck at the net through traffic. The shot rebounded onto Sullivan's stick in front and he put the puck away to tie the game after 20 minutes of play.

Greenville would go on to score once each in the second and third periods to carry the day by a 3-1 final. Jan Vodrazka and Tim Sestito provided the goals while Cam Ellsworth finished with 32 saves to earn the win. Wall turned aside 22 shots in recording the loss.

The game was marred by an injury to Lynx forward Nicolas Corbeil, who went down after apparently being hit with the puck in the back of the neck. He was eventually taken off the ice on a stretcher to a local Greenville hospital for observation, and was conscious and moving his arms and legs as he left the building. Updates will be made available as soon as possible.

Augusta will be back on the Bi-Lo Center ice Saturday at 2:05 pm. The Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show will begin one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
