FRESNO, Calif. - Trailing 1-0 after two periods of play, the Fresno Falcons unleashed their most prolific period of the season by scoring five goals in the third on their way to defeating the San Diego Gulls 5-1 at Save Mart Center.

Scoreless through the first 20 minutes, San Diego finally took a 1-0 lead 16:44 into the second when rookie Erik Johnson scored his first career goal off a rebound.

Fresno's Fraser Clair began the third period barrage with his 20th of the year at 2:17. Still tied at one at the mid-way point, J.F. Plourde won a face-off to Shawn Weiman. The Falcons d-man scooted along the blue line and into the high slot before sending a wrist shot off a skate past his cousin Tyler Weiman, who was manning the goal for San Diego. Weiman's fourth of the year at 10:13 was quickly followed by Plourde's team-leading 25th at 13:18 before Luke Curtin notched his 20th of the campaign at 13:54. Fresno scored its fourth goal in a span of 5:21when John Wroblewski slid in his 19th of the season at 15:34 to complete the five-goal frame.

The victory lifted the Falcons to 34-11-11 with 79 points as they remained unbeaten against their own Pacific Division this season with a record of 18-0-4. Curtin's one goal and one assist extended his team season-high point streak to 11 straight games (4g-14a) dating back to Feb. 11.

The Falcons complete a season-high six-game home stand tomorrow night when they host the Phoenix RoadRunners at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m. The Raiderettes will entertain fans on the ice during the first intermission and sign autographs throughout the game courtesy of CBS 47 and Fox Sports 1340.
