Chiefs Win Again

March 10, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release

Johnstown, PA --The Johnstown Chiefs continued their mastery of the Trenton Titans, beating Trenton in Johnstown, 2-1.

The win propelled the Chiefs to a nine point advantage over the Titans in the North Division and guaranteed that Dayton cannot overtake the Chiefs. The best Dayton can do is tie the Chiefs at 63 points. One more point and the Chiefs clinch at least 5th place in the North division. The Chiefs have won seven of the last eight against Trenton.

The Titans scored just over a minute into the contest, as Brian McConnell poked home his seventh of the year.

The Chiefs stormed back midway through the first period. Goals thirty five seconds apart by J.B. Bittner and a diving Brandon Elliott gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead, which they would not relinquish.

Bittner's goal was a pin-point wrister from the right circle, a power play goal, and his 10th of the year.

Brandon Elliott's goal was a sparkling individual effort. With a loose puck sliding through the slot, Elliott dove to his right and knocked the puck past Titan goalie, Rejean Beauchemin.

The Chiefs hung on, handing Trenton their sixth straight loss.

The Chiefs 2005-06 season presented by The First National Bank of Pennsylvania resumes Saturday, as the Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers. Irish band, Tree will begin playing at the War Memorial at 5 pm. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-CHF-TIXX.
