Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (37-18-3) used 53 shots and a trio of third period goals separated by 25 seconds to help upend the Columbia Inferno 7-2 in front of a standing room only crowd of 7,333 at Germain Arena.

The game started quick with both team scoring in the first 1:04. Columbia (20-32-7) opened the scoring with Brandon Nolan stuffing the puck past Everblades net-minder Kevin Nastiuk just 42 seconds in to game. The Everblades however wasted no time responding with John Ronan tallying the first of his two goals on the night just 22 seconds later.

The game remained tied at one through the midpoint of the second period. The Everblades, who out-shot Columbia 20-5 in the first period and 53-27 overall, broke the game open with three goals in the final 9:07 of the second period. Paul Cabana gave the Everblades the lead for good after deflecting a shot past Inferno goaltender Chris Houle at 10:53 of the middle period. Reggie Berg followed with his eighth goal of the season 47seconds later, and Ryan Brindley collected a power play goal at 18:39 to give the Everblades a 4-1 lead after two periods.

Columbia quickly cut the lead in half when Travis Lisabeth scored just 36 seconds into the third period, but Kevin Bergin, Dustin Johner and Ronan scored in a 25 second span just prior to the midpoint of the third period to put the game away. Bergin's tally, his 22nd of the season, came at the 7:55 mark on a slap shot from the left circle. Johner followed with his 13th goal of the year at 8:14 and Ronan finished the scoring by notching his second of the game just six seconds later.

The three-goal barrage was the fastest three goals scored in Everblades history, eclipsing the previous mark of 1:16 set during the 2000-01 season.

Nastiuk earned the win by stopping 25 Columbia shots to raise his record to 8-3-1. Houle suffered the loss despite making 46 saves, which dropped his record to 10-20-4.

With the win, the Everblades improved to 4-0-1 vs. Columbia this season.

On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 1-for-4, while the Inferno closed out game going 0-for-4.

The Everblades return to action on Saturday, March 11 when they host on the Columbia Inferno at 7:30 p.m. from Germain Arena.
