Gladiators hold off Checkers 2-1

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Gwinnett Gladiators defeated the Charlotte Checkers 2-1 Friday night in front of 6,962 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Gwinnett's Cam Brown scored the game winner at the 14:10 mark of the third period.

Gwinnett scored the first goal of the game as Milan Gajic scored on the power play at the 10:57 mark of the first period. The Checkers evened the score early in the second period as Mike Bayrack scored from Brandon Cullen and Ryan Fultz. Gwinnett's goal by Brown goal at the 14:10 mark of the third period sealed the game for the Gladiators.

Gwinnett outshot Charlotte 24-20 and capitalized on 1-of-7 power plays while Charlotte was scoreless on three advantages.

Sean Fields picked up the win for Gwinnett making 19 saves. Trevor Cunning was the hard-luck loser in his first game with the Checkers. Cunning was signed to a contract earlier in the day after Chris Holt was recalled to Hartford (AHL).
